Whether your website has just newly been made or has been running for years, there are most likely areas that need improvement before it can function properly. The reason for this is that the web is a complicated place, websites are complicated and it takes constant fixing and tinkering to get a website to do the particular things you want. Perhaps you set up your site a few months ago, but haven’t had a single visitor.Or maybe your site has been bringing in plenty of searchers for years, but this has stopped suddenly. There are clear and identifiable reasons for why these things happen, and the way to understanding them is through a website audit or analysis. Through checking the workings of your website, you can find the problems you’ve run into and then fix them. Doing this thoroughly can lead to great benefits for your overall SEO.
- Included in our SEO Audit Process
Below are some of the things we do as part of our SEO audit service. Click any of the items to read more about what it involves.
- External Link Profile
Search engines determine the quality of your website in large part by who links to it. The is an “editorial” system of ranking, where each link shows search engines that someone else thinks your content is good. On the other side, links from shady areas of the web, or untrustworthy sites can harm your SEO ranking. We look at what links are pointing to your site, and see where there’s room for improvement.
- Content (including written, image , video, and more)
We analyse the content of your site to see how it performs. We look into things such as word count, language level, video, images and other media.
- On-Page SEO Elements
On-page SEO refers to all the things that can be altered on the webpages of your site. This includes things such as webtitles, meta descriptions, linking, headers, keywords, among many other items.
- Technical SEO
This refers to all things SEO that can be looked at from a techincal aspect. It includes things such as meta robots checks, canonical URLs, site architecture and checking http status codes.
- Crawl Issues
We check for any issues on your site that will stop search engines from “crawling” and indexing your website. If search engines can’t index your website properly, it won’t appear in the results for the terms you’d like.
- Code Issues
Code issues can also interfere with your site being crawled properly. We analyse to see if there are any areas to improve with website coding.
- URL Structure
Having good, clean URLs helps your site get indexed properly. We audit to see whether your URLs need alteration.
We check to see if sitemaps have been set up and submitted, which is also important to help search engines understand the layout of your website.
- Site Speed
The speed that your pages load greatly affects user experience, and therefore how highly your pages rank in search. We check page speed and suggest improvements where needed.
- Social Signals
Social is becoming more and more important for search. We audit to see your site’s social presence and offer solutions to improve this area.
We complete the above STEPs and more, after first getting your insights on the website, and what you’d like to know. We have both quick and in-depth options. We can either produce our SEO audit as a guidance document which you then implement yourself, or we can then implement the necessary SEO changes ourselves.
We also offer a free 10-point SEO audit which is not as comprehensive as our full audit, though still very worthwhile.

- What is an SEO audit?
And SEO audit is an analysis of a website to find out how a site is running, and where it needs improvements in order to get more visitors from search engines.
- What is involved in an SEO audit?
An SEO audit can normally be divided into three main areas: technical SEO; on-page SEO and off-page. The technical review looks at whether your site has all the basic elements of it put together and working, which are necessary for search engines to understand what it is. This includes looking for dead pages (404’s), checking the site page structure makes sense, and making sure the search engines are able to access the site correctly, among many other tasks. On-page SEO looks at the features on the webpages themselves, which includes the content, keyword targeting and display issues. Off-page SEO looks at factors outside of the webpage itself, this includes which websites are linking to your website, your social presence and site authority.
- Why do an SEO audit?
An SEO audit is the first step towards improving your site, always. If you don’t take the time to review your site’s weaknesses, you can’t fix the right things. At the same time, if you don’t look at the strengths, you can miss some great opportunities. An SEO audit helps to set your goals in the right direction, so that any improvements to the site are amplified.
- How long does it take to do an SEO audit?
It depends on how large the website is that you are conducting the research for, whether the report is in-depth or express.
